Summer fun

Well this summer has turned out to be more eventful than we ever imagined. Between Trevor getting an AMAZING score on the DAT (Dental Admission Test) and getting lost in a slot canyon at Zion's last weekend I'd say that's enough excitement for one summer!
Trevor studied for months before he took the DAT last month. I know he doesn't like to advertise his score but I will for him :) He got a 25, which is in the 99.8 percentile. Holy smokes we never expected him to do so well! He was shooting for a 21 or 22. We know that it wasn't all just him though. He did do his part and studied hard but we fully recognized the Lords hand in helping him also. Our family prayed many times for him and fasted. We know that he couldn't have done it without the Lords help. He was looking out for us and blessed us so much more than we ever expected. Scholarships are now an option, which before we never dreamed of, and we will have a few more options for schools than we thought. Trevor is leaning towards Creighton in Omaha, Nebraska... Me, not so much lol. I'm fine with Creighton I've heard great things about the school. I'm not super excited about Nebraska though... I would prefer going to Portland, Florida or somewhere that seems like more of an adventure! That's alright I'm sure we'll still be able to find our fair share of adventures should be chose to go there. It's been exciting to think of all the places we could go. Where ever we go will be a fun new experience and were excited for it!
As some of you may or may not know Trevor decided that just hiking a slot canyon wasn't enough of a rush for him. Apparently getting lost was the real adventure he was looking for ;-). He started out Friday afternoon with 2 others to get a jump start on the first part of the hike. They made camp after hiking a few miles and the next morning they were off again. Everything was great and they were feeling good about the hike. The night before they were worried about the over cast skies but after talking with the rangers they found out the canyon, Heaps, that they were doing wasn't at risk for a flash flood.

They came to a part where they thought they were supposed to turn left. They had read the guide book a few times and a friend that went with them had done it once before. They ended up heading down the wrong way and long story short after rappelling and going in and out of pot holes with cold water they came to a dead end. They realized after that they should have read one paragraph more which told them to not go down the way the did. There was no way back up the way they came. Once you pull the rope after rappelling you're committed. The only way out was to free climb 150 ft. It was Saturday evening and they were cold and tired. They decided to wait for other hikers to hopefully see they took the wrong path and be able to get out the next day. Sunday afternoon they finally decided that their only hope was to climb. Again, long story short (if you want more details were happy to share over a free meal ;-) ), they tried various things and were able to climb over half way up. They had to spend the night stemming and leaning against one another. Needless to say it was a crappy nights sleep. The next morning Trevor finished the climb. Just as he got up and tied a rope off to a tree to help the other guys the search and rescue helicopter flew overhead. They didn't see them the first time but they were able to flag them down the second round and get helicoptered out. Trevor said it was pretty sweet but definitely not worth the hassle for the ride!
As a side story, that Sunday night another wife of one of the lost 3 musketeer hikers and I drove down to my Aunts house that lived 20 minutes from Zion's. We got up next morning and headed to the visitors center and waited anxiously all morning to hear from search and rescue. We FINALLY got the call that we had been waiting for for almost two days, they were found! Many, many prayers were answered and Heavenly Father kept them safe. They had cuts and bruises but that's all they came out with. It was pretty nerve racking and I would get pretty freaked out at times but I felt pretty calm through most of it and knew that he was okay. It's nice to have him back home!
Yesterday morning we dropped my little brother off at the airport. He's going to the Little Rock, Arkansas mission, Spanish speaking. He got a call a month or two ago saying that he was to go to the Mexico MTC. He was pretty stoked about that. It's always sad to say your goodbyes but I've never seen someone so prepared to serve. He is amazing and I really look up to my little brother, and not just because he's taller than me! I know he's going to do great things!

What else... Oh I went to girls camp last month. That was pretty fun. I got to really get to know our sweet group of girls right before I got released, ha! That's alright I knew it was coming soon for me but the whole presidency changed which I didn't  know about until this past Sunday. I will miss my sweet beehives but they have some great new leaders!

We knew I'd be getting released in the next few weeks because we decided to move to Trevor's parents basement. It's time to start saving up and paying off some student loans before we get lots more of them next year! We've loved our cute little apartment that we've been in the last year and a half and are sad to move but happy to be close to home for a bit before we move our of state next fall.
I think that's all for now. I need to write more often so I'm not writing such a novel of a post!

Playing Catch Up

Hello friends and followers,
Well I feel like all we have done this past month is trying to play catch up and keep our heads above water. Finals week went surprisingly well at the end of April. Since then I've been trying to get caught up and Trevor has kept his nose in his books.
Alright lets start from the beginning shall we? Trevor's birthday was in January and he turned 25... Jeez so old! ;-) We celebrated our one year anniversary in February. The celebrating was more due to the fact that we didn't kill each other while learning to live and love the other. I tease but seriously I'm sure there were times we both wanted to kill one another! I love Trevor and it's so true when they say you learn to love them more and more and you can't possibly imagine loving them even more than you already do. It's SO cliche and I hate cliche's but I have to say it's so true. Trevor's taught me to laugh more, love more, be a little more patient, be kinder to strangers (especially on the road... for all of you who know my road rageousness!) to just enjoy life, take things as they come and live in the moment. He's also taught me to wash off the the water marks/ spit I leave on the faucet in the bathroom sink after brushing my teeth ;-) We've learned lots of things from one another and I couldn't be happier with my eternal companion. I'm so lucky to have such an amazing best friend!
Nothing really eventful happened the rest of February or March. Trevor and I were both staying busy working and going to school. April was finals week as we all know. Like I mentioned above things went pretty well.
As I was reading my last post to figure out where I needed to pick up I couldn't believe it was only 6 months ago we were talking about dental school preparations! Now I'm sitting next to Trevor as he's preparing his dental school application. It's kind of freaky! Lets just say it's a pretty penny to send in applications and we'll only be sending about 15. Then we wait for a few months and hope we get 5 or 6 interviews. Then we wait another few months and hopefully hear in January of 2014 that we got accepted to hopefully a few schools. We have to wait at least 6 months before we hear if were going to dental school. I'm hoping the next 6 months fly by as fast as the last 6 months did.
Lets see what else is new? I turned 23 last month... Nothing to exciting there! Trevor's brother Jordan gets home in October it's looking like. Were all pretty excited about that! It will be a little weird for me, but a good weird. I only met Jordy 3 months before he left. Trevor and I weren't engaged before he left so he missed that as well as the wedding. The nice thing about Trevor working in the MTC was that he got to see his brother often while he was there. Trevor was able to show Jordy the engagement ring he design and tell him how he purposed before he left :) Kinda fun to keep him in the loop!
My little-big brother got his mission call. He turned 18 this January so he's one of the young ones who gets to go before he's 19. He's going to Little Rock Arkansas, Spanish speaking! It's so crazy. He's grown so much in the last few months and I'm so proud of him! He'll be such an amazing missionary. I'm sad to see him go but I'm so excited for the experiences he'll have!
Trevor and I are now proud aunt's and uncle's of two nephews and one niece! We have our little nephew who just turned 2 last May and is pretty much the cutest two year old ever, hands down. Try and argue with me I dare you, I win ;-) Then he got a new sister... AND brother at the same time. Yep twins! My sister-in-law had twins this April. The cutest little babies ever!
Welp I think that's all for now folks. Us tired old people need to get to bed. Thank's for reading. No promises that I'll get on here this month again but I will try!

Finals, Christmas and the whole shabang

Well its been over a  month since I've last posted anything.  In my defense I did say we'd see how this goes an that I knew I might be slow to post! Whats new since the last post?  Trevor got back!  It was a long 10 days but very worth it.  Trevor had really been enjoying his mammalogy class and was starting to play with the idea of maybe doing something with that.  After he went to Guatemala it was full steam ahead with dental.  I didn't really care what he did I just want him to figure out what he wanted to be when he grows up! Lol.  I won't share to much because his experience is for him to share but he had a wonderful time.  He was supposed to be with an endodontist (root canals and such) but ended up being switched to a dentist, Dr. Rogers... Rodgers?  Anyways he is an amazing man from what I hear from Trevor.   He has a great heart and really enjoys sharing his talents and fixing peoples teeth that need it.  They were all able to get a lot of missionaries ready to turn in their papers and serve the Lord.  Trevor can't wait until he has another opportunity to do so.  Unfortunately it may not happen for a while.  Once he's done with school and we can get on our feet we both plan to go on a trip like this.  Then he'll get to be the dentist instead of the assistant!
Finals came and went and now its almost time for the new semester already... ugh not excited.  The last couple weeks have gone by way to fast. Trevor did really well this last semester.  He got a 3.7!  I didn't do quite as well... my biology grade hurt me just a bit but I still pulled a 3.2.  This semester I'll be taking 9 credits and working full time.  This summer I'll finish up my last class for my associates.  Trevor will have his bachelors at the end of this semester or by this summer as well.  I'll be putting my education on hold until we move to dental school.  There's no point for me to keep taking classes and try to transfer my senior year.  Most credits wont transfer great and it will be a waste of time and money so I'll have a couple years off!  Trevor will be busy taking the last of his credits, taking a  DAT (dental admissions test) prep course and working part time.  Saturdays he'll be busy with his prep coarse and working so he'll be going from 9-9 so if anyone wants to part give me a call! Haha.  Then he'll take the DAT and start applying to dental schools before fall.  If all goes well we'll have a couple options and even get to choose where we go!  Well head off to school in fall of 2014.
Christmas this year was just as fun as ever :)  Maybe more so cuz I had someone extra special to share it with :)  We went to Trevor's parents for Christmas Eve and my parents Christmas day.  It was a pretty chill two days which was super nice! We opened presents both days, went bowling, went to a movie, played games, visited extended family and just enjoyed spending two full days with family with no agenda and nothing to worry about.  We got to talk with Trevor's brother Jordan that's on his mission.  He seems to be doing really great!  He gets home sometime this November hopefully.
I love my calling in Young Women!  It's SO much fun!  I've now have 9 beehives!  Two have come within the last month and I'll get a couple more this year and loose a couple as well.  They are all super great girls and so fun and energetic.  I'll need to start getting back in shape to just attempt to keep up with them!  They all get along super well so no drama, thank goodness!  Its been fun and I'm excited for this year to start helping plan and be a little more involved.
Well I think that's about it.  Our anniversary is coming up in a month and 2 days to be exact.  It's so crazy how fast this last year has gone!  It's probably been the most challenging and trying but definitely the most rewarding year of my life so far.  I wouldn't change a single thing.  Thats all for now folks, until next time!
